Faran Groper is Fistball's biggest fan (and Brindledang's biggest womaniser). Not content with listening to the village of Brindledang's crier's tales of the premier Fistball teams, he has entered the local village team, the Brindledang Allstars into the raffle to get a shot at the bigtime. When the scroll from leading Fistball sponsor Starling arrives one day, he thinks it may be another cruel joke from one of their ex-players. But when the authenticity is confirmed and a huge pile of cash comes their way, he must convince his friends and fellow farmhands that the ultra-violent Fistball is a way to put Brindledang on the map.
With only a matter of weeks until the start of the season and a team consisting of farmhands, criminals and an ogre with the I.Q. of a bag of chips, he must plan everything down to the finest detail to ensure that the team keeps its financial head above water. That, and keep his talented thieves out of jail, his ogre facing the right direction and his pants on, and trying to keep an eye on the mysterious coach who only ever appears at night time, or in the shade of a heavy cloak and a large umbrella.
As they are catapulted into the premiere league of Torbean Fistball they face the best teams in the land, and soon learn the hard way that team sports against races who hate humanity aren't as fun as they seemed from the stands.
A Game of Two Halves is currently an early Work in Progress. Give it time though, it's coming along nicely! |
